Sueetie Setup is in Transition...
Where's my setup.exe?
Sueetie is a combination of great .NET Open Source social networking applications: ScrewTurn Wiki, Gallery Server Pro, YetAnotherForum.NET and BlogEngine.NET. It then adds a central framework to bring those applications together and to extend their functionality. It does that through a shared collection of Sueetie code libraries: Sueetie.Core, Sueetie.Controls, Sueetie.Blog, Sueetie.Wiki, etc. The result is five Visual Studio solutions with added Sueetie.Core, Sueetie.Controls and the other framework classes.
What we did originally was to provide the central framework source code and DIFF files which would be applied to the individual application source code, bringing Sueetie compatibility to that application along with shared membership, access to Sueetie Controls, theming, and other Sueetie functionality. Here's
Original Setup Instructions which you can see are rather painful. Big payoff at the end, but we needed to come up with a better plan.
One thing we decided to do was to create a
Sueetie Web Package to greatly simplify site setup. An important ingredient in that package was a selectable Themes model. This took us several weeks of hard work, since we're talking about adapting a theming architecture to four different applications, each with their own theming architecture. That has been completed and you can read about that on
this Sueetie Blog Post. We're shooting for a September release for that.
As for the source code to Sueetie, only the Sueetie contributing team of developers has access to that for now so we can more quickly complete the web package and other releases in the works. For IT Shops and corporate clients who plan on building applications with Sueetie, please know that we haven't yet finalized on how to make source code available. We are looking at a Support model where IT Shops generating revenue from Sueetie and Corporate Clients with the financial means can financially support ongoing Sueetie development as well as the development of the great apps that comprise Sueetie. Sueetie is still a baby, but as it matures so will its availability and licensing model.
