Sueetie Marketplace has a number of great features, one of which are the intelligent product categories which always record the number of active products for the category and all child categories. Marketplace Categories support multiple parent-child levels of display. Categories and their contents can be moved to other categories, and you can move products from one category to another.
The Marketplace includes two Category Controls with a number of special functions: 1) The Category Browse controls which is featured on the Marketplace Home Page for navigating products and 2) The Category Dropdown control which displays categories hierarchically.
Managing Categories
Here is the Category Administration page. It includes all category maintenance functions which include:
- Add Subcategories
- Change the Category Name and Description
- Move the Category to another Parent Category
- Move the Category's Products to another Category
- Drag and Drop Category Display Order
- Delete the Category
Deleting Categories and the Uncategorized Category¶
The Uncategorized Marketplace Category is a special category associated with inactive products for which a category is not relevant. It is also used when you wish to delete a category.
There are two Marketplace Category Rules to remember: 1) Marketplace Categories cannot be deleted if they contain any products, either active or inactive, or any subcategories. 2) All Marketplace Products must be assigned a Category. Given those two rules, follow this procedure to remove a Marketplace Category.
Move the Category's Products to Uncategorized
We're going to delete the "Temporary Category" product category. Because you cannot delete a category which contains products or subcategories, select the category you wish to delete and move its products to the "Uncategorized" Category.
When the category's products are associated with Uncategorized (or any other category) you are able to remove the category.
Drag-n-Drop Display Order
To re-order the display of categories in any hierarchical level simply drag and drop the categories to the order you wish for them to appear. When you drop a category in a different position a "Categories Updated!" message will display.
